Moving in Longueuil: what changes by neighbourhood

Longueuil isn't one place. How long a move takes depends a lot on where you are.

Vieux-Longueuil

Lots of duplexes and triplexes with outdoor staircases and narrow stairwells. A three-seat sofa doesn't always turn on the landing — it goes up with two people and the right equipment, and sometimes a door has to come off.

The streets around rue Saint-Charles are narrow and parking is tight. We arrive early to get the truck as close as possible; every metre of carrying costs minutes.

Saint-Hubert

Mostly bungalows and single-family homes, often with a driveway. This is the fastest sector to load: the truck backs up to the door and there are no stairs.

Watch out for finished basements. A full basement easily doubles the volume we estimated over the phone.

Greenfield Park

A mix of single-storey homes and small buildings. Streets are wide and access is generally good.

Not every low-rise has an elevator — check before you book, because it changes the time and therefore the price.

The towers near the métro

Around Longueuil–Université-de-Sherbrooke station and place Charles-Le Moyne, most buildings require you to book the elevator and the loading dock, often weeks ahead and within set hours.

Call your building manager before you lock in a date with us. It's the number one cause of delayed moves on the South Shore.

The bridges decide your start time

A Longueuil → Montreal move isn't measured in kilometres, it's measured in bridges. The Jacques-Cartier, the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel and the Samuel-De Champlain bridge don't share the same quiet hours, and the A-20, the A-30 and Route 116 jam at different times.

That's why we start early. Two hours sitting in traffic, on an hourly rate, is two hours nobody wants to pay for — not you, not us.

Common questions

What's the difference between the hourly rate and the flat price?
On the hourly rate you pay for the time actually worked — if it goes faster than expected, you pay less. The flat price is one guaranteed amount, no matter how long it takes. We set it by phone, because we need to know the access details. Call (438) 533-7770.
Are the truck and equipment included?
Yes. The hourly rate covers the truck, the crew and all the protective equipment. Boxes and packing material are billed separately if you want them.
What if my furniture doesn't fit up the staircase?
It happens often in Vieux-Longueuil. We take apart what comes apart, remove a door if needed, and for the impossible cases we arrange an outside hoist. Tell us on the phone — it gets planned, not improvised on the morning of.
Do you move on July 1st?
Yes, but it's the busiest day of the year in Quebec and spots go months ahead. If your lease ends June 30, book early.
Are you insured?
Yes, and the certificate is provided on request — many building managers require it before they'll let you book the elevator.
